What is SPACEPORT AMERICA CUP

Those people who are interested in space technology might be familiar with several rocket competitions in the USA. However, some people might not know what the Spaceport America Cup is, since this competition is not well known in Thailand. CUHAR team would like to introduce the SPACEPORT AMERICA CUP, the WORLD’S LARGEST INTERCOLLEGIATE ROCKET ENGINEERING CONFERENCE AND COMPETITION!

Teams of students all around the world would gather in Southern New Mexico and compete in the annual Spaceport America Cup, the most distinguished and challenging rocket competition in the world, held in a world-class spaceport facility. In the Spaceport America Cup, students will be applying their engineering skills to launch solid, liquid, and hybrid rockets to the target altitudes of 10,000ft and 30,000ft.

The competitors within the competition will represent the best and the brightest students from more than 150 institutions located all across the world. The accepted teams in the registration round will be working on designing and manufacturing sounding rockets to launch in the final round in New Mexico. Every represented team has to be cautious on every step and has to ensure that the rocket will be launched safely following the regulations.

After all, the challenge of the competition is not only for competing with others from all over the world but to design every component of the rocket from the entire rocket’s structure down to the smallest wiring with safety in mind, to ensure that it will be safe for flight through the rigorous and thorough testing process that will be performed earlier next year. However, with the team being the first all-students team from Thailand to compete in the competition in the first year of our existence is already considered to be a successful first step for every member of CUHAR.
